ACTS is based on the philosophy that "one will bring into counseling what one experiences in the real world, including the skills in which one uses to cope with those experiences." When an individual enters into a counseling relationship, he/she has the opportunity to learn about self and develop healthy, constructive relational skills. In the process of learning, he/she experiences an Authentic, trustworthy relationship with the therapist. Through this experience the individual is then able to take the newly developed skills and healthy changes and use them in everyday living.

The approach used in counseling at ACTS is Christian, meaning it is Christ-centered and Biblically based. Christ, in His encounters with individuals, was always accepting of the person, yet "cared enough to confront" what one needed to change regarding choices, behaviors, attitude, and most importantly, the heart.

The process of counseling is a time for discovery, change and healing. It is a Therapeutic endeavor that requires active commitment and participation from the individual(s). It is a time for unveiling productive Solutions for healthful living. The genuine therapeutic process continues long after the counseling has ended.
